Outdoor Space Makeover!

Back in May, I showed you guys the dismal state of our patio after a pretty brutal Boston winter, and I realized I never shared the "after" photos! Clearly, this summer has been flying by, but I'm so happy to report that we've spent countless afternoons and nights out there already. Summer - slow down already please.

We've made some big improvements to the space in the last couple of months, including:
- Redoing our outdoor closet
- Moving our giant air compressor to the space where the tree used to be (and don't worry, the tree was safely removed and is now happily planted in a much bigger yard!)
- Powerwashing the brick and cleaning up all the shavings left from construction
- Replanting our planters
- Hanging our succulents back up
- Setting up our new outdoor furniture
- Sewing some fun outdoor pillows

And here's how the space is looking now!

 AFTER!
We are so in love with how it turned out! For plants this year, we went with licorice again (because we love how it grows so full & wild), hanging vinca, and wax begonias, which all do well in the shade. We hung our hanging planters back up on our lattice, fill the pots we made in pottery class back up with succulents, bought a big leafy tropical plant from Home Depot, and sewed some outdoor pillows with palm leaf fabric to bring in as much GREEN as possible. Finally, we laid out our outdoor rug, assembled our new furniture and coffee table set, and set our stump end table up again. But redoing the outdoor closet and moving the air compressor out of the way (we have so much more room now!) definitely made the biggest positive impacts on the space.

What do you think of the transformation? It's so nice to have a little outdoor space to call your own, no matter how big or small, in the middle of the city. And this is our sanctuary. I hope you are enjoying the outdoors as much as we are this season!
