10 Ways to Incorporate Calligraphy into Your Wedding

If you haven't noticed already, I'm a little calligraphy obsessed! And I've intentionally kept a lot of the "design" elements of our wedding day under wraps, but you can be sure of one thing - there will be lots of calligraphy. The written word has always been fascinating to me - I love letters, quotes, typography, you name it, and when those words are written in beautiful hand-lettered script, it makes me love them even more. We worked with Lauren of A Fabulous Fete on our save the dates and invitations (I like her more modern style of calligraphy, I'd recognize it anywhere!) and we are excited to be working with her on many of other details for the big day as well. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, here is a sneak peek at our wedding invites! Lauren did such an amazing job at taking the inspiration we conveyed to her (tattered paper, blue watercolor, very ethereal etc.) and bringing it to life by hand-painting and lettering the entire suite. Once all of the pieces arrived, my amazing helpers (my mom, sister, some of my bridesmaids) and I hand-packaged each of them with a few vintage stamps and some plant dyed silk ribbon from Silk & Willow. Each individual invitation was such a labor of love and I was so glad when they were finally in the mail and on their way to all of our guests.
And here are 10 great ways to incorporate calligraphy into your own wedding! All photos can be found here.

1. Save the Dates
2. Invitations
3. Welcome Sign
4. Programs
5. Table Numbers & Escort Cards
6. Dinner Menus

OK so now who else is as calligraphy obsessed as I am!? I think that calligraphy brings such a fun and tad bit formal element to any occasion. And if it you're not into it - that's totally OK too. It's not everyone's cup of tea. So many people actually commented that they couldn't even read our invites! Which made me laugh, but I think it's definitely like wine, an acquired taste.
