This week on Marlborough 4.24

Happy Friday all! There has been a lot going on in this life of mine lately (all good stuff), so apologies for not keeping up with my Friday posts this month. But I'm back today in great Friday spirits because the weather is getting warmer, summer is getting nearer, and hey, it's Friday. What's is everyone up to over the weekend? We've loved being able to spend lots more time outside in the sun over the past couple of weeks (Hallelujah), and are hoping to do the same this weekend. If you, follow me on Instagram (I'm @lindseybach), you also might have seen that josh and I took a sunny little spring "staycation" at the Woodstock Inn in Vermont last weekend, which was pure bliss. Everything from the hotel to the restaurants to the whole surrounding area was so beautiful, and we can't wait to go back. I'll be sure to post some more photos and details on our long weekend trip here soon, so stay tuned!

Tropical-Themed Rehearsal Dinner Invites

Happy wedding Wednesday! You might remember this post from about a month ago when I was trying to decide between several designs for our rehearsal dinner invitations from Wedding Paper Divas. Well, after looking through the sample kit options with josh's mom and taking into account some of your votes, we finally came to a decision and our printed invites arrived last week! I'm so in love with them. We ended up choosing the "touch of paradise" design in the pink/green colorway. We liked that the invitations were square shaped, which is a bit different, and also that they were fun, colorful, and fit the laid-back beach vibe that we are going for at our rehearsal dinner perfectly.

What I love most about these invitations (and what you can't really tell from photos) is the quality of paper. We opted to upgrade to the "Premium DoubleThick Matte" paperweight option and man, it makes all the difference. We also added envelope liners from the collection, which are printed in the same palm leaf pattern and easily slide right into the envelope. Where have envelope liners been all my life?! They are so cute that it's going to be tough to ever look at a plain envelope the same again.
And once we had decided on the color, shape, thickness, liner, and envelope style, we simply edited the invitation text and then our design was off to one of Wedding Paper Divas' designers to develop a proof before we "approved" the final order. Being the perfectionist that I am, having the ability to see the proof and make sure everything was perfect before the invites went to print was in my opinion, one of the best features of the process.
And in case you were wondering...the design has also officially been "Bandit-approved". He's a tough critic, so that means a lot. 
Thanks to Wedding Paper Divas for making this part of the planning process so easy! I seriously don't know what people did before this site. In terms of the rest of our rehearsal dinner decor plans, we are going for a look similar to the photos below! I've been really digging tropical color palettes lately - deep palm leaf greens, bold pinks, bright pineapple yellows, etc. - and that's very different from the plan for the next day at our wedding, so we thought why not have fun with this theme at the rehearsal dinner. With the help of our families, some of my creative bridesmaids, and a little DIYing, I'm excited to bring a bit of the tropics to coastal New England. Think Palm Beach meets the Caribbean meets Westport, MA. And luckily, Wedding Paper Divas had no shortage of invite options within that theme to choose from. Best Fries in Boston


As we move closer to the big day this summer, I am giving up a few of the "junk" foods in my life including on of my biggest weaknesses, french fries. I can honestly say that I could probably live off french fries in different forms. Truffle, sweet potato, rosemary dusted, parmesan, I love them all (and yes, there will be fries at our wedding!). But as an ode and a "goodbye" to fries for a little while, I'm sharing my ultimate list of french fry destinations in Boston here today. If you haven't tried the fries at any of these spots, go! Please, for me. I promise you won't be disappointed.

#1 The Met Back Bay - Met Parmesan truffle fries
These are by far the best fries I've ever had in my life. I could easily eat them every day and my stomach would be completely content. As a fairly pricey side option on the menu, they are totally worth every penny and can definitely be shared. They are fried to perfection in truffle oil, sprinkled with a generous amount of fresh parm and sage, and served in a mini frialator basket with a side of garlic truffle aioli. If you haven't tried these yet, you really must. ($9)

#2 The Beehive - Brunch Poutine
The Beehive is one of our favorite places to eat in the South End as it is. And I'm not usually a huge poutine person, but their brunch poutine is a game changer. This is a meal on the "mains" portion of the menu, and the fries are served in a large cast iron pot and topped with melted cheese, poached eggs, short rib, and a little bit of gravy. Enjoy these along with a Beehive mimosa and their live jazz music and you've got yourself a pretty awesome brunch! ($16.50)

#3 Roxy's Grilled Cheese - Rosemary truffle fries
Everyone knows Boston's Roxy's food truck for their amazing grilled cheeses, but their fries are also out of this world. The potatoes are hand-cut and then seasoned with sea salt, rosemary, and truffle oil. So delicious and so cheap! There's rarely a time I see Roxy's parked in Back Bay and can resist grabbing a bag. ($4)

#4 Saus - Pommes Frites
Saus in Faneuil Hall is any fry-lovers paradise. Their focus is all on the fries, and the result is exceptional. You start with their basic pommes frites in small, medium or large and then can doctor them up as much or as little as you'd like. Choose from 13 different "dipping saus", including curry ketchup or the super spicy "Green Monster" with garlic and jalepenos, or go even further and add truffled mushrooms, bacon bits, or pork belly. The options are really endless. But even without any of the add-ons, the fries are really freaking good on their own. ($4.25 - $7)

#5 The Publick House - Monk's Frites 
This list wouldn't be complete without the Publick House in Brookline, who deliver pretty delicious french fries. Their appetizer-sized "Monk's Frites" are hand cut yukon golds dusted with sea salt and served in a paper cone with your choice of two dipping sauces, which include garlic asiago mayo, fresh herb mayo. chipotle mayo, creamy beer mustard, truffle, ketchup, bacon horseradish aioli, and apricot mango bbq. If you're all about the sauce (like me), these are a must try. ($9)

This Week on Marlborough 4.3

Happy Friday! Those smiling faces in the photos above are from a sunny ski day a couple of weekends ago on Attitash mountain. We got lucky and got some pretty awesome spring skiing weather - some of the jackets even came off in the afternoon! This NH winter weekend is always one of our favorites and I love that no matter how busy all of us are, we always seem to come together for it.

Josh and I are going to try and sneak one more ski day in this weekend (it's 65 degrees in Vermont today but 100% snow predicted tomorrow??) but other than that, I'm hoping that my snowy photos will soon come to an end. I am SO ready to stow my sweaters and boots away and welcome warm weather! I'm praying for a beautiful, sunny spring. Boston certainly deserves it.
